Lochaber Gathering was held today in a cool, damp Fort William. Pipers and judges were glad of the indoor facility at the Nevis Centre. There were good entries in all events except in the juniors.  In the programme notes Piping Convenor Allan MacColl commented: ‘…On a less positive note the seriously depleted number of junior competitors from the Highlands is worrying. A long day of piping in the Nevis Centre, Fort William. Some very good playing with many pipers at the top of their form as you would expect a few days before Wednesday’s Argyllshire Gathering at Oban. Mid-afternoon Robert Wallace gave his tenth Lochaber Gathering Lecture. Forecast for today’s G1 Worlds qualifying is for a dull day with a maximum temperature of 15degs; no sun. Tomorrow is much better with sunny intervals, particularly late afternoon and again a high of 15 degs.
