P/M Andy Venters

The death has been announced of P/M Andy Venters, Queen’s Own Highlanders. Andy was 90. Andy was a noted teacher of cadets and in schools and Pipe Major of the regiment and its ex-members association band. He was also a noted composer with several fine tunes to his name. Funeral details to follow.

  1. Andy was huge during my formative years as a tutor and mentor. Evan MacRae and Andy Venters were responsible for shaping the player I became.
    A kind and humourous man, I always enjoyed catching up with him. He always had time to pass on his knowledge.
    So very sad to hear this news, I’ll miss him dearly.

  2. I’ve been in touch with Andy for many years since the late Colonel DJS Murray had introduced us back in 1991. Never forgot his kindness over the years and was very much a Cameron to the core.

    Thank you for your time and courtesy over the years Andy. A giant of the National Service Generation.
