Inveraray Games/ Worlds & Dumbarton Draws/ Denver Cardwell/ PP Logo

Thanks to Alan Cardwell for forwarding the picture up top of his late father Denver. Denver is pictured receiving the Tommy Geddis Memorial Trophy as Pipe Major of the Grade 1 winning RUC band at the All Ireland Championships in 1985. The contest was held at Newcastle, County Down.

Denver passed away in October 2014. He had a distinguished career in the RUC through the worst of the Ulster Troubles. After leading the force’s band to many success he joined the RSPBA’s Adjudication Panel and served with distinction there too.

The late George McIlwham will be buried at Sannox Cemetery on the island of Arran on Monday. No details yet of any funeral service.
