Mallaig Games Cancelled

Mallaig Games, due to take place on Sunday (Aug 7) have been officially cancelled. Appalling weather in the north-west Highlands, heavy rain and wind, has led to widespread flooding and waterlogged fields. The forecast for the next two days is no better so there is no prospect of grassy areas such as the venue, the Lovat Memorial Field, drying out in time. Congratulations to Iain MacFadyen on completing 50 years attendance at the Silver Chanter competition held this week at Dunvegan Castle, Skye. Argyllshire Gathering Announce Draws for 2016 Competitions (times updated, short leet details)

The Argyllshire Gathering will be held at Oban on August 24th and 25th. Twenty eight pipers will compete in the Gold and Silver Medals, 30 in the junior MacGregor Memorial Piobaireachd and  23 in the Senior Piobaireachd. The winner of the Highland Society of London Gold Medal has the honour of leading the pipers and stewards to the games field on the second day of the gathering. The picture above…
