This competition was held today in the National Piping Centre in Glasgow as part of the Piping Live festival. Overall winner was Callum Beaumont on a piobaireachd preference. The 2022 Silver Chanter winner was Finlay Johnston playing the classic Lament for the Children. (Finlay Is one of the invited pipers at the Piobaireachd Society Annual Concert on August 21 in Edinburgh.) The annual, two-day Skye Gathering piping competitions began yesterday in Portree. Twenty-six entered for the Dunvegan Medal contest for which pipers have to submit four MacCrimmon tunes.
