John MacLellan won the Senior Piobaireachd and Former Winners MSR at Oban and the Clasp and MSR in the same year at Inverness.
Thanks James for your response. Looking up that was 1958 John MacLellan won all 4 and from what I read nobody has achieved it since.
Yes Jack would love to find that out also. The grand slam of piping. Stuart Liddell will go down in history as one of the greatest pipers ever. Achievements in band and solos is amazing. Top guy and deserves all his success.
Well done to all the prize winners and all the performers. Really enjoyed the Former Winners MSR and the Clasp today.
It’s always a joy to listen to the world’s best pipers at such a lovely venue as the Eden Court. Every event seems to run efficiently and you’re never left waiting long for the next performance.
Such a privilege to sit and listen to great sounds and finger work from hard working pipers.
Bruce Erskine
Has any piper in history won all 3- the Clasp, Senior Piobaireachd at Oban, and the Worlds (let alone as a pipe major of a grade one band)? If there is another, I can’t think of one.
Truly a phenomenal year for Stuart!
