This contest was held yesterday as part of the Virginia International Tattoo. Chieftain of the Day was Jimmy McIntosh. A very successful competition was held in Oban High School today with judges reporting a good standard of playing in all events. The organisers were particularly pleased at the size and quality of the entries in the junior competitions.  Sponsor of the piobaireachd was North Ledaig Caravan Park. Pleased to see such a healthy entry for the Grade 1 contest at Gourock on May 14 with Glasgow Police, Shotts, Inveraray and Scottish Power all to the fore. There is a top down effect at these minor contests. If the big boys are there it gives the event the kudos it requires and brings in much needed revenue. Many of our smaller pipe band events have been struggling of late….

This well supported solo competition run by the Northern Ireland Branch of the RSPBA was held yesterday in Lisnagarvey High School, Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
