Four of the major piobaireachd competitions in world piping were held today in Oban, Argyll. The winner of the Gold Medal was Alasdair Henderson, P/Sgt of the Inveraray Pipe Band. The world’s top pipers have converged in the west Highland town of Oban for the prestigious Argyllshire Gathering solo piping competitions. Over 120 pipers have entered for events ranging from the Former Winners’ March, Strathspey and reel to the local March. Worlds Full Results: Boghall Do It At Last!

Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia, under P/M Ross Harvey, are the new World Pipe Band Champions. They were placed first ahead of Field Marshal Montgomery today at Glasgow Green.
