Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band (pictured above) under P/M Richard Parkes are the new World Pipe Band Champions. They were placed first ahead of Inveraray. SFU took the drumming title. 150+ bands took part across all grades. Conditions were warm and very hot.  The RSPBA summary sheets showed the final totals. The piping world remains in shock this morning following the shooting of adjudicator John Don MacKenzie (above) at his home in Dornie, Wester Ross, on Wednesday. John Don (63), a retired osteopath and a popular figure on the Highland games circuit, remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. This competition was held today in the National Piping Centre in Glasgow as part of the Piping Live festival. Overall winner was Callum Beaumont on a piobaireachd preference. He is pictured above with his trophy. Seventeen entered in the light music and 16 in the piobaireachd.
