The video is of pipers gathered in Federation Square, Melbourne, Australia, on 12th Nov 2025. The organisers say 374 pipers took part creating a world record for pipers playing in ‘unison’.
They did not play a proper pipe tune but rather passages from ‘It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)’ by rock group AC/DC. The event attracted a crowd of thousands. AC/DC are an Aussie group with connections to Kirriemuir, Angus. What about the guy going about tuning the drones!
Liddell in London

To bring everyone back to reality, here’s a recording of Stuart Liddell’s winning double MSR from the recent London competition. Stuart’s tunes, chosen from the six of each entered, are John MacColl’s March to Kilbowie Cottage, Bonnie Ann, John Roy Stewart, Bob o’ Fettercairn, Cockerel in the Creel, and the Little Cascade:
All tunes are very well played of course, but listen to the measured performance of Bob o’ Fettercairn and the flow he gets in the reels. The perfect pipe and technique is a given. Thanks to Gustaf for forwarding.

It’s been a spectacular year of success for Stuart – winning the Worlds with Inveraray, then Oban and Inverness. He will not forget 2025 in a hurry.
