Fraser Maitland: Aberdeen Highland Games are on Sunday, 15th June, at Hazelhead Park. Entry form is now live here. Three tunes in senior categories.
We encourage those interested to enter before midnight 6th June; those who do will receive free entry to the park. Later entries accepted until 24 hours before the start of the games. Those entering on the day will play first and at the discretion of the Piping Convenor. Enquiries to fraser.maitland@btinternet.com
There is a new Under 18 Piobaireachd competition this year with a trophy presented by The Aberdeen Piping Society (TAPS). Let’s hope for better weather than last year, when heavy rain meant the games had to be cancelled.
Eilidh’s Trust
Iagan MacNeil: Young musicians across Scotland are invited to apply for funding from the music education charity established in memory of piper Eilidh MacLeod, the Hebridean teenager who was a victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena terrorist atrocity.
The deadline is midnight on Friday, 27 June 2025. Applications should be made via Eilidh’s Trust’s website.
In 2024 the charity supported over 2,000 young musicians by distributing over £43,000 to 52 individuals and groups from Orkney to Dumfries. This takes the total number of grants made since the trust was established in 2018 to over 100 and their combined value to over £100,000.
