Worlds 2018: FMM Are Champions (updated)

Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band under P/M Richard Parkes MBE are the new World Pipe Band Champions. They were placed first ahead of Inveraray, so reversing last year’s 1/2.  St Laurence O’Toole from Dublin took the drumming title. 214 bands took part across all grades. Conditions were wet, cold and blustery in the morning but improved later. FMM are pictured above celebrating (picture courtesy Glasgow Life). 1. It’s 47 years [1971]since I first went over to Scotland and have been over manny, manny times since.
I’ve heard the best of them.
Today in the medley the FMM produced
the best sounding, musical performance I have ever, ever, heard from a pipe band.
Well done to Richard & band.
A big congratulations to Alen Tully & SLOT for the great season they have had and especially the concert on Wednesday night.
    All have a great night.
    Regards
    P Byrne
