ruglenOur report yesterday on the Rutherglen Pipe Band should have mentioned that the band’s first P/M, George Yardley, was in fact a double Gold Medallist, taking both in 1911.
Hector Russell has pointed out that the gentleman in civilian clothes on the top right of the picture is Willie Paterson who not only played in the Rutherglen, but also Red Hackle and the Clan MacRae Society Pipe Band. Willie was responsible for teaching many drummers and was a founding member of the Rolls Royce Pipe Band.
