Norman Maclean 1936 – 2017

Norman Maclean, piper, Gaelic comedian, writer, author and teacher has passed away on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Norman had become frail during the summer and on August 3 was admitted to Uist & Barra Hospital where he passed away. Norman was 80. He was brought up in the south side of Glasgow of island parents. To Inverness today for the 2017 Northern Meeting. Proceedings begin this evening with a reception in the city’s Town House hosted by the Lord Provost with the Queen’s Own Ex-Members Pipes and Drums parading at 7.45pm.
