Robert Burns Junior Piping, Dumfries

This annual contest was held on Saturday Sept 2 at Locharbriggs Primary School, Dumfries. The event was run for first time by Southwest Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy. Good turnout of pipers and drummers in all events. First prize winners in the piping are pictured above. Norman Maclean 1936 – 2017

Norman Maclean, piper, Gaelic comedian, writer, author and teacher has passed away on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Norman had become frail during the summer and on August 3 was admitted to Uist & Barra Hospital where he passed away. Norman was 80. He was brought up in the south side of Glasgow of island parents.
