Donald MacDonald Quaich/ Grampian League

Canadian piper Bruce Gandy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, won the annual Donald MacDonald Quaich competition held at the Clan Donald Centre, Sleat, Skye, last night. Others who competed for the £1,000 ($1,500US) first prize were Douglas Murray, Niall Stewart, Roderick MacLeod and Stuart Liddell. The adjudicator was Dr Jack Taylor. Craig Sutherland won the popular Scots Guards Knockout competition held in the SG Club, Haymarket, Edinburgh, yesterday. In the audience led vote, Craig, from Pitlochry and pictured above, triumphed over Steven Gray, fresh from his success at the Highlands & Islands contest the day before.
