His Majesty King Charles visited Lonach Games in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, today (Aug.26) to mark the 200th anniversary of the formation of the Lonach Friendly Society, the Games’ promoters. He was unfortunate to miss Andrew Donlon’s performance of Craigellachie, which gained him first prize in the Piobaireachd. Four of the major piobaireachd competitions in world piping were held today in Oban, Argyll. The winner of the Gold Medal was Alasdair Henderson, P/Sgt of the Inveraray Pipe Band.
