Entries are now open for a new junior piobaireachd competition being run by George Watson’s College in Edinburgh. The inaugural ‘Caritas Banner’ Competition is on Sunday 26 November. Sponsors are Kintail Bagpipes and the Piobaireachd Society. The school, founded in 1741, has as its motto ‘Ex Corde Caritas’ (Love from the Heart). On Saturday, September 23, the Ottawa Branch of the Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario held the Glengarry Cup, writes Karine Mayers, President. All Ireland Solo Piping & Drumming: News, Results and Comment

This competition was held last Saturday (Sept.16) in a school in Lusk, north of Dublin. It was very well attended by pipers and drummers from both the north and south of Ireland, writes the Editor. Hosts were the Irish Pipe Band Association. They share responsibility for the contest with the RSPBA Northern Ireland.
