Readers will probably be aware that tickets for the Worlds are now available to purchase on-line from Glasgow Life, the promoters. I am shocked by the level of increase in the ticket prices.
As in previous years, there are a variety of ticket categories e.g. Friday only, Saturday only, Weekend tickets, all with the option of advance purchase or buy on the day.

Price increases compared to 2024 range from 11% to a whopping 23%, which is not the best way to encourage a large attendance, especially if the weather is poor and the BBC are live-streaming everything.
Tickets bought in advance have slightly lower price increases, typically around 11%, but given the vagaries of Glasgow weather, many people choose to purchase their tickets on the day.
Here are some examples of the sort of increases pipe band enthusiasts can expect:
Friday ticket bought on the day: 2024 £16.50. 2025 price £19.00. A 15% increase.
Saturday ticket bought on the day: 2024 £26.50. 2025 price £30.50. A 15% increase.
Weekend ticket bought on the Friday: 2024 £32.50. 2025 price £41.00. A 23% increase.
I am sure that there will still be a large attendance, but I do feel that these prices are a bit of a rip-off for entry to Glasgow Green, a common land that was gifted to the people of Glasgow in 1450. For a family of three or four to attend, it would cost a King’s ransom.

- A family ticket is for two adults and up to three children aged 6-15. Under 5s free.
- These prices do not include ‘transaction fees’ which vary from £1.50 to £1.95.
