Information on Scottish and European Pipe Band Championships

Defending their title….Field Marshal Montgomery, the 2023 Scottish Champions

The promoters, West Dunbartonshire Council, have issued the following information about the forthcoming Scottish Pipe Band Championships to be held at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton, on July 27.

The council say, ‘We are expecting over 115 pipe bands from across the world to attend along with our popular Highland dancing competitions. 

‘Car parking is available along with mobile home parking. The event is free to enter and has a number of trade stalls. The event opens at approximately 9.30am and concludes around 6.00pm.’ 

Car Parking – £5 – cash or card payments; Motorhomes – £20 per night, cash payments only. Those bringing motorhomes should park in the designated area shown on the site map.  An official will come to your motorhome and ask for payment and provide you with a pass to be displayed on your dashboard.

Euros at Perth

Perth city council are anticipating large crowds for their Highland Games which this year incorporate the European Pipe Band Championships. The date is Sunday August 11, only five days before the start of the Worlds in Glasgow.

The promoters: ‘Perth Highland Games is one of the most popular events in the Scottish Highland Games calendar. This year we are very excited to also be hosting the 2024 European Pipe Band Championships which will attract over 120 pipe bands from all over the world.’

Tickets are £12 (adult – 17+), £6 child (6-16), £30 (family 2+2). Band coaches cost £50. Get tickets here. Check out the band draws here.

    Can anyone advise on how I go about getting a disabled car pass for Perth? The RSPBA website says to leave a message request. I done so weeks ago, and so far, no response.
