The Argyllshire Gathering has confirmed the following names for this year’s prestigious piobaireachd competitions to be held at Oban on August 26th, 2015. There will be 28 competing for the Silver Medal with two reserves, and 29 for the Highland Society of London’s Gold Medal, no reserves. Last year’s winner of the Oban Silver Medal, Decker Forrest, is pictured above with the Duke of Argyll, the Chieftain of the Gathering. Read a report from last year’s Gathering here. Also taking place on the 26th of August will be the Senior Piobaireachd event for pipers who have won the Gold Medal and the MacGregor Memorial Piobaireachd for pipers aged under 22 on the day of the competition. The 27th of August is games day, with competitions for ceol beag held at Mossfield Park, Oban. The winner of the the Gold Medal leads the march to the games park.
