RU Brown Gold Medal Results

This annual competition was held over two days in St Aloysius College, Adelaide, South Australia, last weekend. The winner of the Gold Medal was Dan Nevans from Airdrie (pictured with trophy and medal).

The promoters of this competition are the RU Brown Piobaireachd Society of South Australia, formed to honour the memory of the late Pipe Major Robert Urquhart Brown MBE of Balmoral who visited Australia in 1972.

On his way to Australia, Bob suffered from thrombosis in the leg. After judging the Australian Championships in Hobart, Tasmania, he was forced to abandon his tour and return home. His condition continued to deteriorate and he died soon after.
