The RSPBA Board of Directors today issued the following statement regarding the World Solo Drumming & International Juvenile Tenor Drumming Championships
‘As a result of the continued restrictions due to Covid19, including travel, both within the UK and overseas, limits on indoor gatherings, the compulsory use of face coverings, and the continuation of 2 metre social distancing measures indoors, have led to the decision to postpone the World Solo Drumming & International Juvenile Tenor Drumming Championships until 23rd October 2021
‘We have been working closely with our event partners Andante Percussion, Glasgow Life, and Glasgow Caledonian University, and we have made this difficult decision based on Scottish Government and Event Scotland guidance that no events involving the gathering of people should be taking place until further guidance on the easing of restrictions are published. Glasgow Caledonian University has also made us aware of its decision to host essential activity only on campus up until the end of 2020.
‘So, in light of the above information, and the emerging incidents of local outbreaks of the virus across the country, and having considered a number of different options for the event, we believe that it is the right decision to postpone until 23rd October 2021.
‘The safety of our partners, employees, association membership, volunteers, and members of the public is paramount, and in these unprecedented times we feel that an event of this size would not be appropriate and may cause a risk to public health. We look forward to welcoming the event back in 2021.’
