I wondered if the Piping Press would be interested in sharing a bit of news regard a unique event we have planned for this evening, writes P/M Gordon Bruce. We hold an annual Beating the Retreat at the school during the last week of term, however, due to the current restrictions, this would have been cancelled.

Feeling sorry for our pupils I have arranged for this to be moved online.  Below is a document which includes an invitation and a few notes about the Piping and Drumming Programme.

Access our Facebook account here. We will send a link to those interested. We also have YouTube and we can send a viewing link prior to the end of the school day on Monday, 22nd June; this is our channel. The event will start at 7pm.

If you have any questions about this event, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the organising team: marketing@st-columbas.org or direct message the Pipe Band or St Columba’s School Facebook accounts.

This unique performance bears testament to the commitment and dedication of those involved in the Piping & Drumming Programme.

St Columba’s School is an independent, non-denominational day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. We currently have 130 pupils part of our Piping and Drumming Programme, who received from tuition from Gordon Bruce, Steven Nelson, Louise Augaitis and Finlay Johnston.

This evening Beating the Retreat was produced from over 200 video clips sent in by pupils. This is an annual event that would have been cancelled, therefore we are delighted to move it online to give our youngster, who have be working so hard with online lessons in recent months, a great send off at the end of the school term. The 45min show will be aired live on Facebook and YouTube at 7pm and will include over 90 pipers and drummers (instructions above). Website – https://www.st-columbas.org; GBruce@st-columbas.org
