Australia: Piping Results from Central Coast Scottish Spectacular

Saturday 3rd November saw the second annual Central Coast Scottish Spectacular held in the scenic seaside town of Gosford, New South Wales.

There was a healthy entry of ten competitors in the ‘A’ grade piping, including a few young guns who have stepped up recently.

The organisers went to the considerable effort and expense of arranging for Bob Worrall to fly out from Canada to judge, which gave competitors the opportunity to play in front of an adjudicator fresh from judging the Glenfiddich Championship the previous weekend.

Conditions in Gosford were considerably different to Blair Atholl as the mercury reached 34 degrees celsius at lunchtime, although thankfully a sea breeze cooled things off substantially by the time events kicked off in the afternoon.

The overall champion piper was awarded the inaugural Robert Worrall Cup, which one competitor nicknamed the ‘Behemoth Bob Trophy’ on account of its impressive size.
