The Piobaireachd Society is to promote a concert of ceol mor as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this coming August. The concert is entitled ‘Classical Pipe Music – Scotland’s Hidden Treasure’. The date is Sunday, August 12, at 7pm. The venue is the newly refurbished, 200-seat St Cecilia’s Hall, Edinburgh. P/M Jimmy Banks reports: Jonathon Simpson of Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band won our KO final yesterday beating Ben Duncan of the Army School. A huge audience of 70+ in the Guards Club at Haymarket. We had two really good performances. Each piper entertained us well. I had Ian McLellan, Walter Cowan and Jim Henderson as judges and they all endorsed Jonathon as a worthy winner on the day….
