The Moira Demesne was the setting last Saturday (Aug 10) for the penultimate RSPBANI Branch contest of the 2019 season. It also served as a final outing for bands, drum majors and the panel of adjudicators who will be taking part in this weekend’s World Championships in Glasgow. The contest escaped the worst of the heavy showers that seemed to pick out areas of Northern Ireland randomly throughout the day….

This competition was held today in the National Piping Centre in Glasgow as part of the Piping Live Festival. The overall winner qualifies for the Glenfiddich Championship in October. This prize went to Stuart Liddell (pictured above with the winners’ trophy) who placed first in piobaireachd. The MSR title went to probably the youngest competitor, Connor Sinclair. The public relations company for Piping Live festival have sent this…. The 16th year of Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival kicked off today (Monday 12thAugust) with a piping hot performance from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Novice Juvenile Pipe Band, featuring 11 year-old tenor drummer Emily Gormley, the youngest member of the band (above).
