
The Piobaireachd Society’s Annual Recital of Ceol Mor, ‘Scotland’s Hidden Treasure’, will be held in St Cecilia’s Hall, Edinburgh, on August 9th. The invited pipers are Gold Medal prizewinner Sean McKeown, Ontario, and 2025 Silver Medallists Callum Wynd and Kyle Cameron.
Each will play two piobaireachd. There will be three tunes before the interval and three after. The pipers play in continuous with no tuning in between performances.
The tunes to be played will include the Prince’s Salute, Rory MacLeod’s Lament, MacDonalds ar Simple and You’re Welcome Ewan.
The evening will be recorded for future access for members via the Piobaireachd Society website. This black tie event (for the pipers) and is part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Tickets, £15 and £12 are available in advance from the Fringe Box Office here or at the door on the night.
There will be a small reception at the end of the concert where the audience can mingle with the pipers and Society office bearers.
Livingstone Invitational
Piobaireachd Society President Robert Wallace will be one of the judges at this competition to be held in Hamilton, Ontario, this Saturday, May 9. Also on the panel are Michael Gray, Toronto, and Ann Gray, Calgary.
Invited pipers are Joseph Biggs, Cameron Bonar, Tyler Bridge, Daniel Carr, Andrew Donlon, Nick Hudon, Tyler Johnson, Abby Long, Dan Lyden, Ian K MacDonald, and Sean McKeown. More details here.
The following day, May 10, Mr Wallace will conduct a piobaireachd workshop organised by the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario:
