Last week’s feature on the Dysart had merely suggested their drum corps had won the Worlds in 1975 at Corby, I tried to confirm this through a 2023 publication by a pretty reliable source and found it given as Shotts & Dykehead, writes Iain Duncan
However authoritative responses to the original article suggested otherwise, so to confirm this one way or the other I contacted Joshua Baird at RSPBA Headquarters to retrieve the original report and he kindly supplied a photocopy (attached) from the Pipe Band Magazine giving the full results on the day.
It clearly shows in Grade 1 the Best Corps of Drums (BCD) as Dysart & Dundonald and clears up any doubt created:

Bo Reilly has also been in touch since last week’s articles. He writes: ‘I have attached a copy of contest successes during Bob Shepherd’s reign. Can you also thank Iain Duncan for his contribution; I know he admired Bob.’
The remarkable success of Dysart & Dundonald is well set out in Bo’s table. It should be noted that the totals of championship wins are for the period 1968 to 1979.
