The Piobaireachd Society’s Annual Recital of Ceòl Mòr will be held in St Cecilia’s Hall, Edinburgh, on Sunday, August 10.
The title of the recital is ‘Classical Pipe Music – Scotland’s Hidden Treasure’. It is part of the Fringe Festival. The show starts 7 for 7.30pm and concludes circa 9.30pm.
The pipers are (l-r above) Alasdair Henderson, Dunoon, John McDonald, Aberdeen, and Brodie Watson-Massey, Edinburgh.
They’ll each play two tunes, one either side of an interval. The tunes are the Red Speckled Bull, the Phantom Piper of the Corrieyairick, MacLean’s March, Prince’s Salute, Stewart’s White Banner and Park Piobaireachd No 2.
Alasdair is the current Senior Piobaireachd Champion at the Argyllshire Gathering and John and Brodie were the 2024 Silver Medallists at Oban and Inverness.

St Cecilia’s, in Niddry Street just off the Royal Mile is much lauded by musicians for its acoustic and surroundings befitting classical music.
Tickets, £15 and £12 (concession), are available via the Edinburgh Fringe Box Office, or at the door on the night. The show will be recorded for PS members who can’t manage. There will be no tuning in the auditorium.
MC for the evening is Robert Wallace, Society President. He said: ‘This is exceptional opportunity to hear ceòl mòr played by noted exponents. There will be a small reception at the conclusion hosted by the Society at which the audience can enjoy a refreshment and mingle with the pipers.’
