SPA Veterans Results/ Ardmore Cup Details/ NZ Bands

Five played in the Scottish Pipers’ Association Veterans competition held at the Piping Centre in Glasgow last Friday (December 6). Only first places for each category were awarded. 

The judge was Tom Johnstone who is pictured far left (above) with the contestants, Logan Tannock, Dave Mason (new member), Brian Mulhearn, Neil Cameron and George Johnstone. Results: Slow Air: Logan Tannock ; 2/4 March: George Johnston ; Medley: Dave Mason.

Ardmore Cup
Eric Stein reports: On Saturday February 22nd we will once again hold the Ardmore Cup in St Declan’s Village Hall, Ardmore, Co. Waterford, Ireland. At 9am we start the amateur events: 14 and Under Piping, 16 and Under Piping, Adult Novice Piping. We are being generously supported by the Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust. 

Pipers will play the standard Irish Pipe Band Association requirements. We will have great prizes. Pipers please send your willingness to play to ericmstein53@gmail.com . Entries must be received by February 7th, 2025.

The Open events start at 1pm with the MSR and the Medley at at 6pm. The following players have accepted invitations to play: Alastair Donaghy, James Fraser, Ashley McMichael, Alen Tully, James Stone, William McCallum, Angus MacColl, Finlay Johnston. Two more invitations are outstanding. 

The judges are Euan Anderson, David Chesney, John Reville.


New Zealand 2025 National Championships
The provisional draw for this pipe band competition is now available. The dates are March 7-8 and the host town Invercargill. Judges are Stuart Easton, Liam Kernaghan, Terry Lee and Brian Switalla (piping), Chris Stevens and Paul Turner (ensemble), and Ross Levy and Scott Mitchell (drumming).
