Draws Announced for British Pipe Band Championship

Inveraray on their way to victory at the British Championships at Gourock in 2022

The second Major Championship of 2024, the British, will be held at Forres, Moray, on June 8. This will be the first British for two years. There was no contest last year due to the sponsor’s financial difficulties.

The winners in 2022 were Inveraray under P/M Stuart Liddell. They were placed second by both piping judges but won drumming and ensemble. Second placed Field Marshall won first from both piping judges but placed only 5th for drumming and third for ensemble. Third overall was SLOT from Eire.

There was genuine pleasure expressed by bands after Forres was announced as the venue for the 2024 British following agreement between local businesses and the RSPBA. Grant Park is seen as an ideal arena and the competing bands are always made very welcome by the organisers.
