The Board of the National Piping Centre is delighted to announce that Finlay Johnston will step into the new role of Head Piping Teacher at The National Piping Centre from 1st July 2020.
Finlay has worked with the Centre since 2015 but has been part of the Centre’s development, attending schools and teaching here throughout his piping career.
Finlay is the current, and two-time, Glenfiddich Piping Champion and has won many of the top prizes on the major solo competition circuit.
Director of Piping, Finlay MacDonald said: ‘I’m delighted that Finlay has come on board in this exciting new role. He is one of the leading pipers of his generation and a great inspiration to us all.
‘Under the current situation, it is important to build a great team to insure we come out of this uncertain time in a strong position. We have already started work on some exciting initiatives and I look forward to working more closely with Finlay in the future.’
Finlay said: ‘I’m delighted to take up a new role at the National Piping Centre. The last five years working here has been a fantastic experience for me and I’m looking forward to working alongside Finlay MacDonald and glad I can contribute towards the future of the Centre.’
Finlay is a great addition to the senior management team at The National Piping Centre and his experience will help shape the future of piping teaching. He will take up this new role from Wednesday 1st July 2020.
