The 2016 Capt. John MacLellan Memorial Medal went to Ian Speirs (left) after a close contest held last night in Edinburgh.
The other competitors were Callum Beaumont, Roderick MacLeod, Innes Smith and Greig Wilson, New Zealand. The adjudicator was William Livingstone, Ontario. Iain Speirs won the medal last year too.
Competitors are asked to play one of Captain John’s piobaireachd compositions. The competition evening is a black tie affair with a sumptuous meal adding to the enjoyment.
