The organisers have announced tonight that tomorrow’s games at Strathpeffer have had to be cancelled due to inclement weather. Torrential rain and high winds have left the ground waterlogged with the car park under a foot of water in places. Also cancelled tomorrow are Perth Highland Games.

The annual Skye Gathering Piping Competitions began yesterday in Portree. Twenty played in the Dunvegan Medal contest for which pipers have to submit four MacCrimmon tunes. Fred Morrison capped a great week at the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, Brittany, by taking first prize in the annual ceol mor contest.
