Dr Jack Taylor, former President of the Piobaireachd Society, has been awarded the MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List for services to music.
Robert Wallace, current PS President and Editor of Piping Press, said: ‘There cannot be a more deserving individual in piping. Dr Jack has worked tirelessly for the Society and the music throughout his life and in particular the last several decades.
‘He is currently our Music Editor and served as President for 12 years before demitting office in 2019. Jack is also a teacher of renown and a senior adjudicator on the circuit.
‘His award will be met with delight in all piping circles and I know I speak for all of our members when I wish him and Mary our heartiest congratulations.’

Brilliant news for the piping world and for Dr Taylor, a life time of commitment!
Jack Taylor sets an excellent example in more habits than just piping. It was uplifting to read that his contribution and example have been noticed and rewarded.
