Job Description
The Southland Piping and Drumming Development Trust (SPDDT) is seeking applications for Principal Drumming Tutor based in Invercargill, New Zealand. The role is a full time one with the main focus working in our youth development programmes (promoting, teaching, coaching, mentoring and inspiring excellence) teaching snare drumming, but also with some expertise in bass and tenor drumming.
The SPDDT has a vision to become a College of excellence for Piping, Drumming and Celtic music in New Zealand. The successful applicant will teach in a number of High Schools, Primary Schools, as well as core practices with school bands, and local bands in the area.
[easyrotator]erc_75_1413484305[/easyrotator]The SPDDT has invested in a premier pipe band to showcase talent, promote its goals and give opportunity for its youth development programs, the Grade 1 ILT City of Invercargill Highland Pipe Band. The SPDDT Principal Drumming Tutor would be Drum Sergeant of that band reporting to Pipe Major Alastair Mackenzie, who is our SPDDT Principal Piping Tutor. Alasdair has been employed with us since May 2009, is a new member of the Inveraray & District Pipe Band, having been with ScottishPower for 10 years.
The successful applicant will have a passion and energy for youth development and teaching, have a very strong work ethic and values, have good discipline and self management under guidelines set down by SPDDT and the potential to lead a progressive New Zealand Grade 1 drum corp.
