Piping Forum

The Highland Society of London and the William Grant Foundation have organised an informal meeting of piping associations to ‘build back from the last couple of years to ensure a thriving and diverse piping scene in the future.’

The meeting they say will:

·        facilitate connections and promote awareness of each other’s activities;

·        share updates about the effects of two years of disruption due to the pandemic;

·        discuss key challenges and opportunities for piping at this time;

·        assess the demand for convening in this way on a regular basis in future.

Hosts Duncan Byatt, President, Highland Society of London, and Nick Addington, Chief Executive, William Grant Foundation, say:

‘At the meeting, the National Piping Centre will also share a new infographic illustrating the breadth and depth of the ‘piping ecology’ and we can discuss the potential value of further shared resources like this.

‘We hope that bringing people together will be useful as we take stock and look to build back from the last couple of years to ensure a thriving and diverse piping scene in the future.’

The forum will be held on Monday 6 June 2022, 11 am – 12.30 pm at the National Piping Centre, Otago Street.

Invited organisations are the Scottish Schools Pipes & Drums Trust, Argyll Piping Trust, Northern Meeting, Piobaireachd Society, Competing Pipers Association, Solo Piping Judges Association, Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, Plockton, Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming, National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, National Piping Centre, Highland Society of London, William Grant Foundation
