Vale Drummers/ CLASP Results/Boghall Recruitment

Fiona MacKay: ‘The Vale of Atholl Grade 1 Pipe Band has announced the departure of Leading Drummer Lee Lawson.  Lee took a sabbatical from the band mid-season for personal reasons and unfortunately will not be able to continue with the Grade 1 band as we set our sights on preparing for the 2017 season. We would like to thank Lee for her contribution and the band will shortly provide a further statement to clarify arrangements for the leadership of the drum corps as we move forward.’

Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia are one of the great nurturing pipe bands with a tradition for teaching going back decades. The band and their pipe major Ross Harvey have issued the following: ‘We are currently welcoming new recruits to our highly successful juvenile system. The band is world-renowned because of our ability to nurture young people from absolute beginner level, through our young bands and to our Grade 1 band.

‘Over the autumn months, our bands will be working in small groups with dedicated instructors who share years of experience at the top of Grade 1. This is the Boghall way – the volunteers invest their time to develop our young players as they themselves were inspired by previous generations.

‘Do you know a child who would like to learn the bagpipes, snare, tenor or bass drum? Or are you an enthusiastic young piper or drummer with experience looking for a new challenge with the 2016 Scottish Juvenile Pipe Band Champions? If so, get in touch with the band via the Boghall Facebook page or email boghall.bathgate@gmail.com for further information. We will be holding Open Evenings on 15th and 19th September which will be the perfect opportunity to come along and meet our team.’

We would encourage anyone interested to get along to the Boggies and sign up. You won’t be disappointed.
