Highland Games Round-Up: Lonach & Killin

Simon Fraser, Australia, tries to tune up whilst the ‘March of the Lonach Men’ goes on behind him

Lonach Games were held last Saturday, August 22nd. Thanks to the very attractive prize money there was a large entry in the Seniors – 28. Conditions were cool with a blustery wind. The piobaireachd competition finished at 7.15pm to the strains of the disco starting up.

A big change from a few years ago when two retired players who happened to be judging another event took the two vacant prize spots – 5th and 6th. All prizes in the ceol mor went to overseas pipers.
