
The Board of Directors of the RSPBA met last Saturday at their Washington Street HQ in Glasgow and among other things confirmed the band playing requirements for the 2026 season. These are as follows:

Marketing and Media Convenor Jackie Allan also issued the following press release: The RSPBA’s Board of Directors had a busy weekend. In addition to the January meeting, there was a day of training. Vice Chair Stewart Orr went through the duties of a director at a competition, including changes made after reviewing last season.
Ray Hall laid out the responsibilities of a charity trustee and those of a company director, stressing the importance of legal compliance, timely reporting, good governance and safeguarding members’ interests. Directors also scrutinised the risk register in detail.
Key features from the meeting were the ongoing need for careful and close financial controls with all parties taking a cautious approach to expenditure. The control of and reduction in expenses by all officials during 2025 had made a real difference and should continue as part of the 2026 planning.
The Grade 2 playing requirements were confirmed. There was discussion on reinstating a Best Mid-Section prize, possibly just at the Worlds. The new website will launch at the end of the month and its many improved features were demonstrated. The AGM is on 14 March.
