Well-known piping and pipe band adjudicator Bob Worrall has called on members of the Piping and Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) to support their board members during the current legal action and attendant controversy.
In a statement on social media Mr Worrall (pictured below) writes: ‘For months now I have read and been made aware of a vicious online campaign directed toward the PPBSO Board and Chair of the Music Committee. These office holders are all volunteers who, in my opinion, have performed their roles brilliantly, with unbelievable passion and commitment for our music.
‘They have demonstrated professionalism and dignity while all the time facing disgraceful attacks from a small number of keyboard warriors. I can’t begin to imagine the emotional impact this has had on all of them, their friends, and families.
‘When misinformation and bullying are repeated enough on social media, people begin to believe what they read. I know full well that if I make this post I will probably be subjected to the same hateful campaign, but my conscience would not allow me to stand silently by any longer.
‘Our Annual General Meeting is next Saturday (December 7). I urge all our members to attend this online meeting and give the full support to our Board that all its members truly deserve. We cannot afford to stay silent for a minute longer. And, may I take a moment to remind our members of a similar hateful campaign directed toward the RSPBA’s Vice Chairman. Rest in Peace, John Hughes.’
