PP Audio Archive/ National Mod/ Composing Competition/ Letters

Launched today is the new PP Audio Archive page which will carry  recordings of this and previous generations of pipers and pipe bands.

Our first recording is of the great Donald MacPherson recorded from the BBC in 1972. It has been supplied by his former pupil Donald McBride and we would ask other readers who have other suitable recordings to forward them to us at the usual address.

This recording ties in nicely with our Famous Pipers series on Donald MacPherson we ran last week.

A new composing competition has been announced. It is a for a tune to commemorate 70 years of the All-Ireland Championships organised jointly by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch and the Irish Pipe Band Association. The tune can be in any time signature and the winner will receive a handsome engraved silver practice chanter from the sponsors, McCallum Bagpipes.

The winner will be announced at the All-Irelands on July 4. More details here.
