‘P/M Iain MacPherson said, ‘Alisdair previously played with Strathclyde Police before moving into the ranks of the World Famous Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band in 2009. He has gained fantastic experience and success there and I believe Alisdair’s knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm will help Glasgow Police Pipe Band make progress in the coming years.’

‘On his appointment to the role, Alisdair McLaren said, ‘I am delighted to be returning to the ranks of Glasgow Police and honoured to be assuming the role of Pipe Sergeant working alongside Pipe Major Iain MacPherson, Pipe Sergeant Duncan Nicholson and Drum Sergeant David Henderson. Having played with the band between 2005 and 2008, it is a great pleasure to return to the fold. During the intervening years I have relished the opportunity to learn under Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE and Pipe Sergeant Alastair Dunn and was very fortunate to enjoy a multitude of successes with FMM. This appointment marks a new chapter in my piping career and I am excited about the challenge ahead. To take on a leadership role in a band so rich in pipe band history is a great honour.’

‘Drum Sergeant David Henderson said, ‘I am delighted that Alisdair is joining the ranks of the Glasgow Police Pipe Band as Pipe Sergeant. With his wealth of experience and success at the highest level, I am positive that he will be a significant factor in helping the band move forward. I look forward to working with Iain, Alisdair and Duncan in the coming months.’
