Wheel of Fortune Draw/ Inverness Piping Society Recitals

Paul White, organiser of the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contest, has sent the line up for what promises to be a fine afternoon of piping a week tomorrow. Headlined ‘Magnificent seven are quick on the draw’ Paul’s message reads:

‘The City of Edinburgh Pipe Band has announced the draw for the 2017 Pipe Majors’ Wheel of Fortune competition. Gordon Bruce, Pipe Major of the West Lothian Schools band, will be first to take the floor, while Sarah Muir, a member of Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia, will bring the event to a close.  The full draw, which was made by Councillor Alex Bennett, a former member of Woolmet and Danderhall Pipe Band, and Dougie Pender, Secretary of Danderhall Miners Club, is as follows:

• Jenny Hazzard
• Lachie Dick
• Ben Duncan
• Sarah Muir

Announcing the line-up for the event, City of Edinburgh Pipe Sergeant Mike Knott said: ‘We’re looking forward to an afternoon of great music in the company of seven magnificent pipers who have kindly agreed to join us at what is the first major event in our band’s 70^th anniversary celebrations. All of our musicians are making their Wheel of Fortune debuts and I’m sure our audience will give them a warm welcome.’

Tickets for the competition, which will be held in Danderhall Miners Club on Saturday 11^th February, will be available on the door, priced £10.00 for people aged 16 and over and £5.00 for under 16s.

The City of Edinburgh band was originally known as Woolmet and Danderhall.  Formed in 1947, the band took its name from the Woolmet Colliery and the Midlothian village, where the band practices to this day. Entry to the event is from 11.30am, while the competition begins at 12.15pm. For further information on the event, please contact Paul White, on 07941 679015 or by sending an email to paulwhite2@blueyonder.co.uk.
