The full lists of bands entered for the World Pipe Band Championships are published today. A remarkable 234 will be taking part in what is easily the biggest competition of the year.
All will gather on Glasgow Green three weeks from this Saturday (August 12 and 13) to battle it out for top honours. The most heavily populated list is, as expected, in Grade 4b where 67 bands have entered with 14 different countries represented in all grades. The draws have been made and can be viewed on the RSPBA website.
Tickets can be had via ‘The Worlds’ website. Can’t make it? The BBC will be streaming the whole day live with a highlights programme to follow soon after the big day.
Grade 1 bands will play in a qualifying competition on Friday, August 12, the top 12 going through to compete on the Saturday. The current holders of the Grade 1 title are Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band.
