Chance Was a Fine Thing – track downloads

When first issued in 1983, this LP was ground-breaking in that at the time, very few, if any, solo piping albums were made from ‘live’ sessions. ‘Chance Was a Fine Thing’ was recorded at a Scottish Pipers’ Association club night in the Dorchester Hotel in Glasgow in 1982. The album name is taken from the fact that Robert learned piping purely by chance when his family moved to Whiteinch in Glasgow and he came under the tutelage of the 214th Boys Brigade Pipe Band. On this recording he plays RG Hardie drones and chanter. Many of the tunes can be found in The Glasgow Collection of Pipe Music.
