Changes at Field Marshal Montgomery

Drum Sergeant Keith Orr and Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE

News coming out of Northern Ireland is that Keith Orr is retiring from his position as leading tip of World Champions Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band.

Our information is that he will be replaced by respected soloist and current FMM corps member Gareth McLees (pictured below).

Keith has had an outstanding career as Leading Drummer with FMM, partnering P/M Richard Parkes to numerous World Championship wins and countless major titles.

Their success culminated in their winning the Worlds for a 13th time last August at Glasgow Green, a record for the P/M. P&O are recognised as one of the outstanding pipe band partnerships.

The band has been approached for comment.

  1. You could always rely on Keith coming out with not only technically challenging scores but also well crafted ensemble settings. All the best to Gareth… but no too much …

  2. Could always guarantee technically complex content as well as a brilliant ensemble setting from Keith. Was a pleasure listening to the band. All the best to Gareth…. but not too much
