US Piping Foundation

The United States Piping Foundation is holding an in-person competition for professionals this year, writes Mike Rogers. Unfortunately, due to facility limitations, amateur events will not be possible in 2022.

This year’s event will be held at a new location: the Essex Campus of the Community College of Baltimore County. The competition, on June 18, is open North American domiciled pipers classified as professional by their home associations. Entries, $50, are due by June 1.

Competitors who scratch forfeit their entry fee. Tunes must be submitted with the entry. Due to the late entry deadline, no tune changes will be permitted after entry submission. The organizers reserve the right to limit entries based on logistical limitations of the event.

Competitors will receive their tune selections and order of play on or about the Wednesday prior to the competition day.

Prizes in Piobaireachd (six tunes): The Silver Quaich presented by the St. Andrews Society of Philadelphia and 1 $1000, 2 $800, 3 $600, 4 $400, 5 $200
MSR (six of each): The Challenge Charger presented by the St. Andrew’s Society of Baltimore. Prizemoney as per the Piobaireachd.

The overall winner receives the USPF Silver Buckle as well as trans-Atlantic airfare from the East Coast US to Glasgow, Edinburgh, or London, UK, to compete at eligible senior competitions. In the event of a tie, the overall winner is determined with a piobaireachd preference. Visit our website, www.uspipingfoundation.org for more details.
