New Book of Tunes from Prolific Composer Craig Muirhead

Craig writes:I’ve put together a book of original compositions which is called ‘30 Exactly’. It’s 30 tunes – and I just turned 30 last month!

”30 Exactly’ is a collection of thirty original compositions written by myself.  It consists of all light music, small marches, strathspeys, reels, slow airs, hornpipes and jigs, nothing too heavy.

‘The number of tunes matched up nicely with the fact that I was celebrating my 30th birthday whilst the book was being prepared – call it an early mid-life crisis!’

The book is available from priced £15.

This is Craig’s second book of tunes. His first, entitled ‘Arranged’, was a very successful collection of his arrangements of well known pop songs and rock anthems. Both books can be bought together for only £25. They are available via the same link or click on the picture:

Craig Muirhead is a multi-instrumentalist from Bannockburn in Stirling.  His versatility has certainly influenced his piping career, harnessed by his time as Pipe Major of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now RCS) where he achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Traditional Music.

Craig has written and arranged music for many of the world’s top pipe bands and although a successful solo piper, Craig dedicates most of his time to teaching and leading the piping programme at Strathallan School in Perthshire.

Here he is playing some of the music from his new book:
